The first freebie is this Quick-Read short story, which features Meg Dalton years ago, before she was a detective, when she went travelling after university.

Not put off by her bad ankle, Meg decides to do a trek in a remote part of the Himalayas, and ends up sharing a guide with a young man who she doesn't like very much.

You'll have to read on to find out what happens!

I'm the author of the DI Meg Dalton crime series, which is set in The Peak District where I live.

The first book in the series, THE DEVIL'S DICE, was published in March 2018. It was shortlisted for the Crime Writers' Association Debut Dagger Award and was the Times crime book of the month.

I  previously worked as a partner in a firm of patent attorneys in Derby. (This has nothing to do with there being a dead one in my novel!)

I'm also a qualified hypnotherapist and an animal trainer, which gives me plenty of scope for planning creative murders.

When I'm not writing, I help my partner run our holiday cottages near Wirksworth, ably assisted by a menagerie of demanding animals.
